It can take minutes or even hours, but it’s necessary. Windows Updates….
As much of a headache as they can be, they need to be done! Use the following tips to minimize your downtime, and maximize your system!
Check for updates regularly:
Access Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update to manually check for new updates.
Set automatic updates:
Choose “Install updates automatically (recommended)” to ensure your system is always up-to-date.
Manage update timing:
Utilize “Active Hours” to specify times when updates won’t install, preventing disruptions during active work sessions.
Optimize network connection:
Make sure you have a good connection to the internet for faster update downloads. Wifi is fine, but a wired connection is better!
Free up disk space:
Regularly clear unnecessary files to provide enough room for updates to install. Empty your trash, clean and empty out your Desktop and Downloads folders of unnecessary files, etc.
The most important thing to remember is to get them done! Some of the updates can install in the background without you having to do a thing. Some of them don’t even require a restart of your PC. But some DO! When your PC says it needs to restart, do yourself a favor and schedule the time when it asks! You can always schedule it for when you’re done for the day!
