Sometimes, telling your IT staff WHAT is going on isn’t enough. Trust me, if you can SHOW us what’s going on, we have a much easier time figuring out what the heck is going on!
With that in mind, use the tips below to do a SCREEN RECORDING of your Windows PC the next time something funky is going on and you need to not just explain, but SHOW them what’s happening! Your IT staff will not only thank you for it, they’ll be impressed!
To screen record on Windows, you can use the built-in Game Bar or the Snipping Tool. For Game Bar, press Windows + G to open it and then press Windows + Alt + R to start or stop recording, or click the record button on the Game Bar. For Snipping Tool, press Windows + Shift + S to open it, select the area to record, and then press the record button.
Using the Game Bar:
*Open Game Bar: Press Windows + G.
*Start Recording: Press Windows + Alt + R or click the “Record” button on the Game Bar.
*Stop Recording: Press Windows + Alt + R again or click the “Stop” button.
*Find Recordings: The recorded video will be saved in the “Captures” or “Videos” folder.
Using the Snipping Tool:
*Open Snipping Tool: Press Windows + Shift + S.
*Select Area: Drag to select the area you want to record, or click “New” to select the entire screen.
*Start Recording: Click the record button (camcorder icon).
*Stop Recording: Click the “Stop” button.
*Find Recordings: The recorded video will be saved in the “Captures” or “Videos” folder.
