Dear Friends;
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of this year’s Texas Automotive Recyclers Association TARA 2020 Conference and Trade show.
We know that this will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to the exhibitors, buyers and industry professionals who were due to attend the show, but also to the state business events community.
This is not a decision we the Board Members have taken lightly and there are two overriding concerns that have caused us to make this decision at this time.
First is the uncertainty caused by the fact that Gov. Greg Abbott has recently called for the ban on events with over 100 people which some or most planned events have already recognized. This announcement makes the probability of factors outside our control forcing us to cancel the show for the year of 2020.
Second, our primary concern is always the responsibility we feel towards our exhibitors and partners, who fund the show – not only by purchasing stand space but also in the considerable additional investment they make in donations and sponsorships.
This was a tough call to make — TARA Trade show is an incredibly important event for the Texas automotive recyclers and it’s one of our favorite ways to celebrate all of you from around the state — but we need to prioritize the health and safety of all of you. We explored other ways to keep the in-person part of TARA 2020, but it’s important to us to host an inclusive event and it didn’t feel right to have the trade show without everyone being able and willing to attend the 2020 TARA Trade show.
Right now, the most important thing all of us can do is focus our attention on helping each other with the new challenges we all face. Please know that we remain committed to finding other ways to share platform updates with you through our https://www.facebook.com/TARAautorecyclers, http://www.texasara.com/, and email.
We’ll share additional details on our future plans in the coming weeks.
Our executive director Nandy Banks will be reaching out directly to exhibitors and attendees with information about providing refunds or moving the funds to the 2021 Trade show.
Take care of yourselves. We’ll continue to do everything we can to help our industry stay safe, informed, and connected.
