INSPECT & CLEAN
Ensure stock # matches the work order
Confirm the interchange description on the work order matches the part
Confirm work order comments match or special instructions have been completed
Assemblies include:
Rear Suspension Assemblies
– Strut
– Coil Spring
– Strut Mounts
– Spindle
– Hub and Bearing Assembly
– Control ArmComplete Independent Rear
– Right and Left Rear Suspension Assemblies
– Crossmember – if applicable
Steering Column
– All levers and switches
– Key Cylinder
– Column to first disconnect at steering gearInspect all units for abnormalities, rust and wear & tear:
Steering Gear Rack
– Splines intact
– Seals intact – no leakage
– No unusual bends in the arms
– Housing, mounts and plugs all intact
– CV Joints rotate freely
Crossmember
– No irregular bends or gouges
– No cut arms / bolts remaining
Suspension
– Ball joints, hubs, and any other joints move properly
Driveshafts/Axles
– All joints and protective boots are intact and move properly
-No leaking fluidsAny rust that is determined to be acceptable by salesperson should be treated with a wire brush
Pressure-wash the entire unit to remove any oil or grease
Complete a final check for cracks or breaks in the ball joint/boot that might have gone unnoticed prior to cleaning
If painting the unit:
– Ensure its completely descaled prior to spraying
– Ensure its dry prior to spraying
– Use low gloss black paint only
– Re-apply stock numbers immediately after drying is complete
TAG & I.D.
SHIP
Knees / Complete Assemblies
Use one of the following standard pallets:
– Small Transmission – 24×32
– Medium Transmission – 26×40
– Large Standard Engine / Transmission – 30×20
Use no fewer than two banding straps to secure the unitSteering Gear Rack
– Housing should be protected and wrapped with packing material
– Joints and boots should be protected with packing material
– Smaller racks may be boxedHubs / Arms / Individual Suspension parts
– If the part is small, it is not required to be palletized
– When shipping to NA it should be wrapped and boxedDrive shafts / Axles
– Joints & boots must be protected with packing material
– When shipping any jointed or 2 piece axle or driveshaft, you must attach the unit to a cut-to-length 2×4 (or similar piece of wood) to prevent shipping damage
