Let’s “Salvage “ 2020!
URG Scholarship Foundation Donation Drive
As President of the URG Scholarship Foundation, I want to personally thank those companies and individuals that have supported the organization in the past. Over the years, we have continuously increased the number and the amount of scholarships awarded.
We also added scholarships dedicated to students attending Trade Schools/Vocational Colleges. In 2020 we awarded $40,000 in scholarships, $30,000 to students attending 4-year colleges/universities, and $10,000 to students attending trade schools.
The scholarship foundation is dependent on the generous donations of our members and sponsors. The majority of the revenue is generated from the auction held at the annual URG Educational Conference each April. As you are aware, COVID -19 social distancing guidelines prevented us from holding the conference and the Scholarship Foundation’s auction, which generates the majority of annual donations to the Foundation.
We need your help! The Scholarship Foundation honored its pledge to award $40,000 in scholarships in 2020, even though donations were drastically reduced. As the end of 2020 approaches, please take a look at your company’s or your personal situation and see if you may be able to make a donation to the Foundation. Our employees and their children are the future of our industry and the nation, we need to make certain we can, through the Foundation, provide them the opportunity to advance their education and achieve their dreams!
If we are able to exceed $40,000 in donations by year end the Board has authorized the Foundation to raise the Trade/Vocational scholarships from $10,000 to $15,000 for 2021!
Thank you on behalf the officers and board of the URG Scholarship Foundation,
